earth day

Earth Day is an annual celebration that promotes the awareness to protect Earths’ natural resources.

The first Earth Day was held April 22, 1970

Electronic Waste Collection Event

Accepting – Computer Monitors, TVs, Desktop PCs, Laptops/Notebook PCs, Tablets, VCRs, Stereos, Speakers, Keyboards, Mouse/Mice, PDAs, MP3 Players, Digital cameras, Zip drives, GPS devices, Telephones, Cell phones, Video game consoles, Printers/copiers, Laser and multi-function peripheral, scanners, Fax Machines, Hair dryers, Microwaves, Small kitchen appliances such as blenders, mixers, and toasters.

Not Accepting – Household Appliances (Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators), Furniture, Ink cartridges, Household hazardous waste like fluorescent light bulbs, (all) batteries, used oil, and paint.

Company to weigh total pounds of e-waste diverted from landfills, physically destroy items to assure data destruction and to track number of participants.

Confidential Document Shredding Event

Employees may bring personal documents to shred at the company event to protect confidential information from the landfill and identify thieves.  

Can use plastic bags to drop off at the shredder bins.  

Company to weigh total pounds of documents diverted from landfill and track number of participants.

Electronic Waste Donations 

Collecting old, obsolete electronic devices to restore and resell to provide monetary donations to charity.

Last event collected:

40 mobile phones

9 tablets 

All devices were donated to Mobile Medics!

Beach Clean Up Bay Area

Litter on public grounds end up into the sanitary system and eventually onto our beach shores and river beds during heavy rainstorm events.

How can you make a difference every day, even on Earth Day.  

  • Organize a Cleanup event with your organization.
  • Solicit help from internal volunteers.
  • Assemble your own cleanup gear! trash bags or buckets, gloves, face mask, trash grabber or tongs, sun protection, close-toed shoes
  • Throw any trash collected into debris bins in designated areas.
  • Dispose of your gloves and thoroughly wash your hands
  • Record how much debris was collected and share with your community.
  • Post your pics on Company intranet site. 
  • Have fun, and know that you made a difference!

Event giveaways and Raffle Prizes!

Every participant will receive free giveaways at the event.  

Raffle winners shall be present to receive flower plants. 

 

Giveaways made from recycled plastics and paper to promote the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
Raffle prizes to promote plants to assure oxygen generation!
